Just recently, our bookstore was favourably mentioned in the New York Times and we had several comments from our customers and friends. One email came from a friend in California who was very excited and announced “Galiano Island Books makes it in the Big Apple” What a wonderful surprise! A writer friend of ours suggested we were in trouble now and I guess he was implying we would be overrun with tourists. In our present economy more tourists would not be a bad thing for our island.... What a wonderful surprise though... the article was mainly about travel on Galiano and described our island as one of the most “frugal” places to visit, while also commenting on the people he met and the activities he enjoyed while here on the island.
